about
This track forms part of a collection of mixes of my favorite songs from SweetCell's album "Outer". The idea of this collection came about during the Covid 19 months of 2020 when Melbourne's entertainment industry (and much of the worlds) was locked down, making rehearsals and gigs a challenge. So what to do with that time?
I thought it would be good to remix the track and present it separate from the context of the album. In this respect Rob McPherson has done an awesome job remixing the guitars, giving them a more gripping, abrasive and industrial quality. This, in addition to Martin Pang's colorful keys, offers up a renewed listening experience that is more faithful to the bands live interpretation of the track.
lyrics
LYRICS:
Hold me in your hands and toes
rich little houses, wonderful slums
I jumped over mountains and fell onto swords
I took it upon myself, to ignore.
Drink to these, tiny little cracks on the floor
Old enough, to ride and sail across the outer
Now open up, wind around and stop.
Flames, fires, ocean floors
deep pockets, short arms
I looked out of windows, ran into doors
took it upon myself, to watch and ignore.
Drink to these, tiny little cracks on the floor
Old enough, to ride and sail across the outer
Now open up, wind around and stop.
Whats apparent, left with unknowns
like a walk in the dark
Antidote, led poison
pour it into your heart
Where to begin, finish don't go
said the boy to his son
Ride fall off, carry me home
not a stroll in the park, works like a charm.
